Journey: Dan Eldon’s Images of War and Peace

This is a powerful tribute to photo journalist Dan Eldon.  During the last years of his brief life, Eldon worked with Reuters, and his photographs appeared in Newsweek and Time as well as major newspapers around the globe.  Unknown to all but his closest friends, Dan’s collage style journals did not gain attention until they were published after his death in a volume entitled The Journey is the Destination.   Eldon is one of a small group of journalist who helped alert the world to the major famine and conflict in Somalia.  Ironically at just twenty two years of age, he was stoned to death in that country by an angry mob reacting to a UN bombing raid.  The exhibition contains photographs, collages, journals and personal effects.
