A lively international mix of artists, Glassbox demonstrates the vitality of mixing artistic modes--invention, selection, and alteration, creation and display--current in the practice of young artists. An artist-run collaborative in the Oberkampf area of Paris, Glassbox emphasizes "transparent" emotions and reactions to the jumble of experiences faced by an expatriate artist today. The artists bring with them international influences and heritages that include Bulgaria, Denmark, Great Britain, Japan, and Zimbabwe. Following successful partnerships with artists' spaces in Salzburg, Zurich, and elsewhere in Europe, this exhibition will mark their North American debut.

In Global Motion, the artists of Glassbox turn their collective international vision towards Santa Barbara and southern California, which is, for Europeans, a highly mythologized place. They will collaborate on an installation that transforms a borrowed space into a satellite of their Paris gallery and provides a dramatic setting for video and photo-based works previously exhibited in Europe, as well as new works created expressly for this project.
